The Altha Care harness eliminates stress on the upper and lower back of bedside caregivers during patient transfers and repositioning. The caregiver uses their legs and body weight to perform a patient transfer. The main load rests on the pelvic girdle, not the spine. This method minimizes the risk of musculoskeletal injuries that are so prevalent in the field.
Availability of vest and straps increases usage. A major drawback to current safe patient handling devices is their lack of availability. Many caregivers lack the time to search for the required safety equipment: The Altha Care Harness and straps are worn, and when placed at bedside, an arms length away. In addition, the method is nearly as rapid as a traditional “manual” maneuver.
Straps are removable and reused for an individual patient. Infection control measures are easily taken by placing a set of straps at the bedside for use with each patient. The straps are adaptable to use on any type of sheet, blanket, or board. An available adapter can enable up to 4 caregivers to safely perform a transfer together
